In China, for example, ginger has been used for more than 2,000 years to aid digestion and treat upset stomach, diarrhea and nausea. 
Ginger has also been used since time immemorial to help with arthritis, colic, diarrhea and heart disease. 
Used as a cooking spice in its native Asia for at least 4,400 years, ginger grows in rich tropical moist soil.
The efficacy and role of Ginger Extract 5%Gingerols: 
Nausea and Vomiting:
Ginger has been shown to reduce motion sickness from traveling by car and boat.
Motion sickness:
Many studies suggest that ginger is more effective than a placebo in reducing symptoms associated with motion sickness.
Nausea and vomiting due to pregnancy:
At least two studies have found that ginger is more effective than placebo in reducing nausea and vomiting due to pregnancy.
Post-operative nausea and vomiting:
Studies have presented comprehensive conclusions regarding the use of ginger in the treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting.
In both studies, 1 gram of ginger extract taken before surgery was as effective as mainstream medication in reducing nausea. In one of the two studies, women who took ginger extract needed significantly less nausea-reducing medication after surgery.
