Lemon yellow to brown powder. Finely divided grains, it is crystalline iron oxide hydrate. Density 4.0g/cm3, good coloring power, covering power and light, alkali, acid and heat resistance. It is insoluble in water and alcohol and soluble in acid. Due to different production methods and operating conditions, the crystal structure and physical properties vary greatly. Heating to 150oC or above starts to decompose water of crystallization and turns red.
