Prothioconazole is a triazolothione fungicide discovered, developed and produced by Bayer CropScience as an inhibitor of sterol demethylation (ergosterol biosynthesis); it provides good systemic action, excellent protection, therapeutic and eradication activity, long shelf life and is safe for crops. Prothioconazole is used on cereals, soybeans, oilseed rape, rice, peanuts, sugar beet and vegetables and has a broad fungicidal spectrum. Prothioconazole provides excellent protection against almost all fungal diseases on cereals. Prothioconazole can be used as a foliar spray or as a seed treatment. Efficacy tests have shown that prothioconazole is not only highly effective against Chemicalbook mildew of wheat, but also effectively inhibits the production of toxins by C. ramorum.
